The fan is recirculating air thru the openings you left above and below its frame, and losing efficiency. Seal the openings around the fan with duct tape or something. Seal also the exterior holes for 140mm fan.
Do you really think those small "teeth" could make a difference? I suppose it might...but hell man, do you have any idea how much work that's going to be? I'll have to remove EVERYTHING from the case to dremel it up all pretty like. Unless, I could find a tool to cut them flush, as you say. Any recommendations?
Wow, thanks so much bro. I never would have guessed or thought the little gaps would be an issue. I'll just put some tape over em.
Just one quick question. I'm sealing the holes around the fan...that will help. But I still want to keep the slitted PCI covers, right?
BTW, here's how the case is looking now.
I've got a 1500RPM Arctic Fan 12 that puts out hella more air than the SFLEX E 1200RPM did. Little louder, but I only run full speed when gaming. Runs @ 700RPM while browsing.
