Airflow/VRM cooling advice

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I'm looking to see if my current setup (in sig) could be optimised.

Fans:

Intake - 2x Noctua NF-F12
- Space for 1x 80mm
Rear - 1x Cougar CF-V14H
H100i - 2x Cougar CF-V12HP

Currently it flows:

During summer the room doesn't usually drop below 30c for most of the day, would it be better to have the H100i as an intake to have cooler air for the CPU and case in general?

Also, if configured as intake would it lower VRM temperatures any? (See above positions) The VRM gets up to ~85c after 10 minutes of Blend @ 4.6GHz 1.39Vcore, which seems a little high? To that end, would mounting fan/s on each heatsink have much of an effect?

If I've said anything off the mark please let me know, I don't have a lot of experience just yet! thumb.gif

Try the back fan as an intake.. maybe add a angled baffle on lower 1/3-1/4 of fan to direct airflow onto motherboard heatsinks.

I use a cheap digital indoor/outdoor wired remote sensor thermometer with piece of stiff insulated wire twisted into the last 20cm of lead to remote sensor. A plastic clothespin and you can position sensor most anywhere to see what air temp is near components. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Agree completely. Get a handle on that hot VRM with the baffle that doyll spoke of. The reversed fan will also add some static pressure to your case and help keep dust down. thumb.gif
