i3 540 @4.46GHz and GTX 770

Thread Starter
I'm planning on selling my gaming laptop, and slowly upgrading my old experimental desktop to the point of completely replacing it pretty much after I sell the laptop.

I just added a new case, PSU and replaced a GTX 280 with a 770.
I re-installed nvidia experience and updated the driver. All good.
But now when I run CS:GO (counter strike) sometimes it stops responding and closes. I didn't get this problem before with the 280.

I know the CPU will be a bottleneck, even at 4.46GHz for a gtx 770, but would it actually cause problems like this?

I am yet to try other games, kinda busy tonight, but I will try most games I got and see what it does.

The system is:
i3 540 at 4.46GHz, on max load stress test temps dont go above 60C.
gtx 770
asus p7h55-m/usb3
4gb ram
win7 34 bit.
1hdd
CM V550S

Also [not related] is it possible to install win7 64 bit on this system? The first time I tried it it kept giving me incompatibility errors?

The system should be fine. Sure it won't push the card to it's Max potential but it shouldn't cause a game to just shut down. Maybe try a different driver?

Win 7 64 should also install fine. I don't see why it wouldn't.

Very nice Oc on that i3 BTW. I like those old ones that you could still Oc. I have a 550 in my htpc.

Alright, will try reintalling the game (and steam), and also might try to download some older driver.

I originally had the latest nvidia driver. Then I reinstalled it. Then I installed an older driver. Then I COMPLETELY removed Steam and all my games from my PC. Reinstalled Steam and CSGO. Nothing work. Tried verify cache.

Might try to install an even older driver...

I would go with a whole new windows install. You shouldnt have a problem
