Kingston!?! Poor to no contact between ram and heat expander!

Tried to get pics but camera doesn't talk to computer any more.

I bought a 4x4gb set of 2400 Kingston HyperX Beast (tigerdirect as if it matters) and had NO TROUBLE removing the stock sinks so I could install my Xigmatek air sinks.

Why? Because the only ram chips that left useful impressions in the stock sink contact strip were the end chips, most the rest made upper edge contact only and some had no contact at all.

If I'd tried to even stabilize these at 2400 I'd have fried them in the stock coolers.

Its getting so that you can't even buy ram without it being fuxed up at manufacture.

(more terrifying is I squeezed them with hand pressure to warm the strips up and likely caused what contact there WAS at that time)

Will up pics as soon as I find the SD for the camera.

You would not have fried them. Trust me, ram generates little heat. For instance, the Samsungs "wonder-ram" often overclocks to ~2133/2400, and it has no heatspreader what-so-ever. Heck, the heatsink on my Vengeance-kit came off after I tried pulling it out of the slot. I've never had any problem.

Trust me, my Rampage IV with i7-3960x took less than twenty seconds to disable a stick of Crucial 1600 because the crucial didn't have good sink contact. It proceeded to incinerate the other three sticks in the set as well. I'm not sure where you got your experience, playschool or duplo, but out here in the real world ram generates heat when it is heavily used.

I'm no expert, neither do I monitor temperatures extensively while my computer is on, but I've never experienced nor heard of RAM being a huge heat problem.

http://www.legitreviews.com/do-memory-heat-spreaders-make-a-difference_299 have fun reading. Ram heat sinks are pure aesthetics.
