Fallout 3 120hz?

Hey guys, looking for some tweaks on how I might get FO3 to vsync with 120hz. I'm not entirely sure what is holding it back right now, my CPU usage is lower than 20% on each core, and my GPU usage hovers around 35% even with MSAA and supersampling on in the NVCP with my 780.

The game is stuck right around 95fps. I can get up to 150fps in the menus, but I can't get up to 120fps in game no matter what settings I try. Even on low everything it sticks around 95. Anyone know of any mods or something that can help, or optimizations I could do? I don't think it is the game engine, I can get 120fps on other games that use gamebryo engine.

Already improved the game from around 80fps by editing the ini file to only use 2 cores. Any other suggestions? Its kind of a personal vendetta now to get it working than anything else.

I used to use a mod that allowed it to sync around 96 and 98 fps. Any faster it would ruin the interaction and vac sequences. However it's been so long I've forgotten how I did it. It was with new vegas though. I'll try to remember it.

Well I did find a solution. In FALLOUT.ini, adjust the iFPSclamp=0 to iFPSclamp=120. The game actually goes up to around 3000fps in menus and looking at a wall now, but if I put vsync back on it works great locked at 120fps.

You may run into some issues though, the game really isn't meant to go above about 60 fps. There are some things hard coded to the engine, and to that fps limit that will go crazy if you are running higher than that fps. The game may run fine most of the time, but some events are limited that way. Same with Skyrim even, hopefully the next Creation engine game fixes these "bugs".

I played through the entire game now with no problems at all. Skyrim will do 100hz pretty easily, but above 110 and that one doesn't like it.

does it actually run on win8? I can't get it to run for more than 10 seconds on my rig without a crash.. Even with all the patches/fixes to help prevent crashing.. Win vista it ran perfectly.. Shame because I love FO3, easily in my top 3 games.

Yes. I don't even use compatibility mode, all you have to do is download games for windows live and then go to the FALLOUT.ini in my documents and make bUseThreadedAI=1 and then add this line underneath it: iNumHWThreads=2
