i was just discussing game performance when i said 7950 is 3% slower than the 7970

In your budget range a Radeon HD 7850 would be perfect for you. There are 2GB version within the $150 range also. I'd go with MSI, Sapphire, Gigabyte, Asus, or HIS when looking for a brand.

Hey all, thanks for your advice.

I decided to pick up a HD7870 MYST with the Tahiti LE core derived from the 7900 series cards.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-131-484

Looks like it really should have been called the HD7930.

Even with the 2GB it makes more sense to be the 7930, and from a marketing point it looks better..

Either way stellar choice my friend! thumb.gif

Yeah, but that makes it cost more to make and higher prices. The idea is to make it cost less and provide a cheaper product!

It's more like a 78xx card technically, but physically it's more like a 79xx card. It's one confused card tongue.gif

Either way AMD named it the 7870 XT/Myst and gave it the 2GB of VRAM and thus gave it a 256 bit bus.
