2560x1440 vs 1920x1080 for RTS and other "birds-eye" view games?

Hi everyone. I searched quite a bit and could not find anything conclusive on this topic.

I primarily play RTS and RPG games that have the standard bird's-eye view of the map.

1. My question is if 2560 x 1440 is too dense a resolution for such games. I understand that I may be able to view more of the world map with higher res, but my main concern is the size of the individual units, icons and in-game font (eg, displaying remaining mana, etc) becoming too small, causing issues when selecting or finding them on the map. I have good vision and do not wear spectacles.

2. Specifically for the above genre of games, how many of you prefer 2560x1440, and how many prefer 1920x1080?

Any feedback would be invaluable.

Just aesthetics. You won't find much (if any) of a difference, and if you were you're gonna need to be superhumanly good at controlling a very powerful mouse. I play lots of total war, and the ONLY thing that actually will help you is the lack of input lag.

For StarCraft 2, there is no difference.

I tried Fallen Enchantress, and the UI elements didn't scale well - the actual map was fine, but the UI elements were a little small.
