Only for the hassle you'll save, R9-290 crossfire.

A R9-290 is also quite close to the benchmarking performance of a single 6990.

I would presume a R9-290 crossfire should roflstomp a quadfire of 2x6990 while gaming because of the quadfire nonlinear scaling.

2 290s I'd say. A 780/290 is faster than a 590 which is only a bit slower than a 6990. Plus with the quadfire you have at the moment you're probably not getting the best scaling in most games so you'd see a bit of a performance increase.

As i thought and scaling is indeed dodgy in some games.
And i can't overclock because my psu can't handle the juice so i'll that's a pro for the 290's.
