Realtek ALC892 vs ASUS Xonar Dgx on Siberia v2 analog

Thread Starter
Right now, I have an ASUS Z87-A that has an onboard Realtek ALC892. I know that dedicated sound cards are usually better than the onboard but they need to be coupled with quality speakers for full effect. I currently use a Siberia v2 analog headset when gaming or at night when playing stuff over the home theatre set (via HDMI) isn't an option. I'm wondering if the Xonar Dgx would be a worthwhile investment for pairing with the headset?

Budget: $50
Music tastes: Anything really, but mostly EDM and rap.
Desirable perks: clearer sound? (could be just mp3s being lossy)
Products already have: Siberia v2 analog headset + onboard ALC892. No amp.
Product planned: ASUS Xonar Dgx sound card.
How item will be used: At home. Music and light gaming.
Where I live: Canada. No preference to going in-store or buying online

No.

Invest in better headphones first.

As much as springing for a new sound card may be tempting, you need cans that are capable of better sound before it really matters. Unless there's a specific feature you're unable to achieve via your onboard setup, the money would be better spent on better headphones if sound quality is truly your concern.
