Hey overclockers, smile.gif
I would like ask about the r9 290 and 290x.

anyone have any idea about when after markets coolers and PCB's will be released?

Cause i have been waiting an incredibly long time for my new pc and am just waiting for the graphics card.

the 780 with the recent price drop is becoming slightly more attractive but i really want mantle to prepare for star citizen.

or do you think i should wait for the first available r9-290x and buy it, then just wait for the water coolers to be released and add it on my self.
or would it be better to go with a more mature card with all coolers already out like the 780.

so sorry for posting this question whitch there were probably already 100s like it.

But do you think i should go with a custom 780 or get any r9-290x and wait for a water cooler?
or would the custom pcb on a 290x make a very large difference.

Also any one have any indea when the watercooler for the 290x will be released, frozencpu has been stating that it is orderable with 1-18
days but it has been saying that for a really long time. Anyone know?

Thanks.
Advice appreciated.

I would just go with a GeForce GTX 780 with an aftermarket cooler if you are gaming at 1440p or below.

If you are playing on a multiple monitor setup or on resolutions higher than 1440p then get the Radeon R9 290X and add a water block to it later.

I wouldn't get a 780 TBH. Get a 290. $100 cheaper, has 1GB more vram ( guessing Star Citizen will benefit greatly with this ), and has Mantle.

You could get a block for $100 and outperform a custom 780.

As for when custom 290's will release, nobody knows for sure but people are saying end of Nov.
