All I can say is currently I'd aviod a 680i. I bought one thinking the problems couldn't be as prevalent as described and quickly found out they were. From reading forums I would recommend a P5B Dlx but I think part of the reason its so popular right now is just the bandwagon effect. I can say though that if you do purchase a 680i go with eVGA. They're tech support has been incredibly responsive and the community over there is thriving in their collective angst over the 680i problems.

Let's get something straight here once and for all.

First and foremost, for Intel, hear me and I do hope you hear me loud and clear because I can't be any more clear, for Intel, DFI has always been a joke, their support is not as good as others. And the boards are way overpriced, that Infinity was over $300 when it was released, now? Only two people have bought that board that I know of. Two-(2)-II.

Now, if they throw a party and a piñata when you buy an AMD cpu along with the ultra-d? Good for you but it's the complete opposite for Intel, got it?

I'd say it before and I'd say it again. I'd take pretty much any other brand but DFI and MSI for any and every Intel system I build for me or everyone that's interested in one.

Now, IF (which will never happen and I do mean NEVER) I were to build an AMD system, yes I'd take a DFI because I know the bad rap ASUS and MSI have of not being as good as the DFI's. And I'd be very happy with my AMD, the Ultra-D and my piñata.

And these right here are the boards I'd recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128012
Note: No piñata included.
