Msi 7970 Twin Frozr fan problem

One of the fans of my 7970 doesn't spin properly occasionally. Sometimes it slows down and makes a strange noise while I'm gaming or mining. Any solution to this or should I just RMA the card.

Usually a fan that makes a lot of noise and slows down is failing. Don't see how you can fix it without voiding the warranty.

So it will only get worse and isn't just some kind of hiccup?

Probably. The sound is most likely from it trying to speed up but can't. Maybe a bearing has failed.

Right now it sounds/looks alright but the temperature is about 7 degrees higher. I guess I could just watercool it and avoid the hassle of RMA. Anyway thanks for the help

Water cooling is the best way, i'd never go back on air. You can't do 1300/1650 on a 7970 while on air cooling.

Just to confirm before I take the plunge, this may be obvious but there shouldn't any other issue besides the fan right? I don't want to water cool it only to find that there's something else wrong.
