That is why I stick with open source solutions where I can. Which means Firefox for my browser. I can't wait for the day when I can ditch Windows 100%.

That day will never come if you don't make the move now. If consumers (people) want change to happen then they must be willing to make that change happen and make the (sacrifice) or it never will. It's as simple as that. I'm not attacking you but nothing gets me more upset when people say they want change and do nothing to make it happen. Hell I'm a prime example...I can't escape MSOffice because of University and Work with people who send me stupid .docx (which MS intentionally makes reading correctly without conversion or Word a pain as the formatting gets lost) or they can't open an .ods or .odt (Libre/Open Office format). But I've moved from Windows 3 years ago (even though I thought Win7 was the best MS had done and got it for free from school) and I try to use Libre whenever I can. That said I won't support FF as they've let me down in the past and sadly Chrome has been the best browser I could find (and to me that's sad).

That addresses most of my concerns then I guess

If the only way that open source projects are going to see wide spread use is that I have to make a sacrifice then it is never going to happen. People are not going to sacrifice usability and most importantly their software to make a point. Just not going to happen.

Luckily I think that enough people who sell software, think Adobe, think Valve, think Amazon, that have enough interest in an open, accessible platform for their projects, that if Microsoft and others continue down the closed platform, walled garden path, that they will band together to push open platforms.

We already see this with Valve and the Linux based Steambox. Time will tell but I think in the long term open platforms will rule.
