Looking into getting a Nokia Lumia Phone

Thread Starter
Once my girl friend moves up here for University, we're more then likely going to need to change her phone. I still need to look into seeing if my carrier will be able use her phone (it's a galaxy 2 mini from europe; I'm with Bell) but if not, she is interested in taking my old phone. She'll take my HTC One and I'll look into Windows 8 phone.

Since we'll be in university I'm thinking of changing my original planes of going for their flagship camera phone and be more focus on a budget/user friendly form factor. I want to look into the Windows 8 ecosystem and get a universal system going. Although I'll be skimping on some of Nokia's more flagshipped features, I don't want to neccessairly downgrade either. I'm also looking for a larger display, much longer battery life, a compariable camera, etc., but not neccessairly the top of the tier. Any suggestions?

Cheers

But if not, which Lumia phone would be a good budget option?

Doesn't seem to be any models I'm interested in below the 900 series. I'm liking the 1520 though, but that's 600 off contract. I wonder if Bell would get their hands on one, let alone, how they would incorporate the plan together.

Edit: The 1320 looks interesting as well. If it is priced right anyways. I'd love to have that 1020 though. The camera quality is spectacular.

The 1520 is on display at AT&T's now. I saw one last night. Beautiful phone, competitively thin and light, and holds a majority of the detail found by the 1020.

This is their 1080p, quad core, 20mp, etc... etc.....

Disclaimer.....it's a big screen tongue.gif

The home screen never looked better.

If you're looking for a phone that can last a long talk time, lumia 1020.

625 might be a little small for me. 5in might be the sweet spot, but the 1520/1320 definitely has me interested. Problem is, is how the heck is it going to fit in my pocket. The HTC One Max makes me cringe, and the 1320/1520 is just slightly larger. But it fits all the other criteria. My girl friends dad just got an LG G2, and to me, the form factor is perfect; I only wish it had Windows 8 variant or at least with a Nokia-class quality camera. Come to think of it, budget might not be much of an issue as we should be able to have our plans merged together and it's not like these phones are going to be replaced in 3 years.

Aren't you looking for the nokia 925 then? Compact, well built, fantastic phone overall and said to be the best w8 device ever. But, if 5 in is a sweet spot for you, then a phablet isn't that big of a deal. 5in, imo is huge. 1520 isn't that much biger.

I'll have to see the 1520 in person. I notice my HTC One might be a bit big for my pockets sometimes. The size is more for viewing and typing; anything smaller then ~5 in is just a pain for me to type on...and I have small hands.
