Got a new 7950 from Gigabyte, 2 issues. In short, OC Guru II doesnt work and no voltage control on a 6+6 model.
1. I cannot get OC Guru II to work for the life of me. I'm aware there are other utilities, but this shouldn't be like this, I want to fix it. Plain and simple. I've tried wiping all AMD/ATI registries, files, drivers and SDKs and then reinstalling the latest ones, I've tried different PCI-E slots. I mean yea that's really it, I'm not sure what else to do. I get the error message:
"Graphics Card Smart Tuner. has stopped working"
I also sometimes get a prompt saying "Please confirm this VGA card!"
when I try to start OC Guru 2.
2. My Gigabyte 7950 is core voltage locked. However, it's got 6+6 power inputs, not VRM heatsinks, and memory voltage is unlocked, which is quite odd. When I try to apply changes in, say, Modded Trixx, the voltage will apply, but programs like hwinfo show me that the voltage hasn't changed at all (but for mem it will, and for example dropping core all the way down to like 0.8v on max overclock is all the same, but doing same with mem voltage and unstable as it should be).
Do I have a new, 3rd version of gigabyte, since the new voltage locked gigabyte 7950s had 8+6 power inputs with VRM heatsinks, or do I simply have the old version fitted with a different BIOS or firmware? If that's the case, can I change it?
Thanks.
