Games on a seprate HDD? Pros?

Thread Starter
Will putting games on a separate HDD help with loading times / alt tabbing during load to load/do other stuff? If so, I have two HDD's a slower and a faster one. Which one should be using the OS and which one for games?

Ideally everything would be on the faster one. I'd only put anything on the slower drive if you run out of room on the first. I've got a fast SSD but put all my games on my slower HDDs. As for your first question, I doubt that dividing up programs between two different HDs offers any real speed benefits beyond the different access times intrinsic to each drive

The outer portion of the HDD platter is much faster than the inner portion - the more filled up the drive is the slower it will be because the inner portion of the platter isn't running under the head as fast (due to physics). So unless your slower drive is *significantly* slower, it'd be better to have some data on that one as well so that any one drive isn't as full.

Also, this does not apply with SSDs, as there are no platters.
