2700k , Strange Core Temp Difference. Please Advise.

The cliff notes is that my Core temps seem to far apart. I know there is some difference but this is roughly the spread.

c0-22
c1-26
c2-25
c3-37?!?

I have tried The Spread method , Cross method , Diff pastes. All with the same Ballpark Results of c3 Being 10-15 Degree's hotter.

System is currently running 1.3v @ 4.5 , I would like to see how much further i could OC this Chip as i really never tried.

Is it possible that the sensor in c3 is off? Even in Prime 95 , There is still a 10-12 Degree Difference between c0 and c3.

This isn't panic worthy. It is very common to see a core with a different temp like this. when under workloads one of the cores sometimes takes more load than the others (running background processes along with a number of other things) I wouldn't panic about it unless the temps go too high.

This is very common. Had it on both my 2500k and 3930k. Don't worry about it!

Well I would just feel a lot more comfortable upping my volts to 1.4 if the 4th temp was more in line
post #5 of 8
Yea, its not that big of a deal. I have the same temps. No problem at all, Specially at idle. I would maybe worry If I had that temp dif. at load.

Prime 95 c0 is 50ish ... C3 is 60/1 ... Still a huge gap it seems , don't want to hit above 75c on full load but I'm trying to get to 4.9/5 if possible , chip is rock solid at 4.5/1.3v right now

It is just the way it is sometimes. I tried soooo many times to remount my air cooler to get the temps even...same gap...then I dellided...same gap, then I upgraded to water....same gap....then I went direct die mount....same gap...Core0,1,3 all load within 2C...then I have core2...he loads 10C higher than the rest...I chalk it up to a bad sensor and disregard it.

It is quite common and I wouldn't say there is much to worry about.

It can happen because of a few different things:
  1. Uneven core workload
  2. Uneven thermal paste (probably not your issue based on what you've done)
  3. Broken or improperly calibrated temperature probes
It happens on my processor too, Core 1, 2 & 3 are about 4 degrees apart, and core 4 is about 10.
