I'd have to say a few:
Gradius III - SNES
Phantasy Star Online - GCN
Gunstar Heroes - SEGA Genesis
Radiant Silvergun - SEGA Saturn <= don't own but my neighbor has it
Ikaruga - GCN
Captain Skyhawk - NES
Mega Man 4 - NES

kind of a lot, and notice that the middle three are all made by Treasure Games, but they're my faves of the bunch

I'll have to agree. That game is awesome. The second one is damn good too.

Also, it's mostly older systems you guys are talking about. I think that the reason for that is some of the companies that worked in that time. What ever happened to square anyway? Square made the best rpgs I thought. Also nintendo still makes "light" games. That's why I enjoy the oldies. Games today are too boring, trying to take you in another 3d world, in which imo doesn't work most of the time. I think it's because of the companies and overuse of graphical perfection that they lost taste for story.

By far for console games it would have to be golden eye for the N64.

I try to avoid the newer consoles...unless it's for DDR.

If you've been plauying games that long, then I think you're just becoming acutely aware of how little innovation there really is in the gaming world these days. Technology breakthroughs in new consoles back then used to be able to WOW us because the new games really were better as a result. These days, technology breakthroughs seem to give us better surface reflection or cloth behavior more than anything else. That's why I'm so excited about the Wii: something new! Holy frickin crap, something new in video games!

Anyway, I can think of two "holy cow" moments in my video game experience, where I was completely blown away by what technology was able to do more than I expected:

1. When I finally traded in my trusty old Apple ][e for a shiny 25 MHz 486-SX PC. I think I dropped a dookie the first time I turned on Ultima 7, Ultima Underworld, and especially X-Wing. Just crazy, off the charts improvement over what I thought a computer could do.

2. The SNES. Super Mario World was amazing, but my jaw really dropped when I booted up FF2 (US).

Yes, that was an awesome game. Although I think I played DD2 more, it was actually harder to get through I think, so I had to play it more to finish it.

Well, no, I haven't been playing games for that long... I'm 16. What I'm saying is that when I try an older console the games are more entertaining-not all of course, but most. That's why I posted this thread to see what you guys thought. Besides the few good games I've played for pc- kotor1&2, fable, hl1, Wc3, and cs 1.6- everything else is boring.
