550 WATT SLI or 400 WATT Generic.

Thread Starter
Well I have a SLI 550watt psu I payed 120 dollars 5 months ago for...
And a 400 WATT Raidmax I payed 15 bucks for NOW....

And My bud Has a DFI NF4 SLI-DR

And Were using a spare 400watt like mine for his rig...

Anyways The 550watt won't work cause theres a wire missing and wanted
To know If there's anyway We can add a wire in that slot....

But the psu Worked in my old ASUS-A8N SLI board..

Anyways HERES THE PICTURES SORRY THEY LOOK LIKE CRAP...
THE ONE WITHOUT THE WIRE IS THE SLI PSU...

Please help thanks...

Well is there a reason that the wire is missing and also, is the wire somewhere else in the power supply?

Looks as if its a 20 pin and the other picture is a 24 Pin.

If you use the 20 Pin Power supply, then you wont be able to overclock very high due to stability.

No there both 24 pin...
Only the 400 watt detatches What i'm asking if someone Could help me so I can put a wire in that missing slot so the mobo powers up...
I am not spending another 120 dollars on a psu when I have a perfectly good one.

the dfi mobo lights come on though,

I don't know the psu came like that , With the wire missing, But why would it work in my old asus mobo but not my buds dfi mobo.

Of the 24 pins, one near the middle on the top is a blank, SO ITS NOT MISSING.
The 24 pin connector is fine.
Compare with pics from any newegg.com psu pics and you'll see your good to go.
If the psu isn't working, its not properly hooked up.
DFI SLI mobos require several hookups/connectors to run stable.

But it works in my old asus A8n - sli mobo..

DFI SLI mobo is specified to have a 480w psu minimum to run properly.
