You would just put the PCI slot on the card towards the bottom of the motherboard rather then the top.

I'm afraid this is not what I am referring to. Imagine taking a card on that ribbon and laying it flat, away from the CPU towards the bottom of the MB as you've said. Because the fan is always facing away from the CPU (bottom of traditional PC case), it would lay flat with its fan against the same surface that the MB connects to. This is why the "reverse connection" riser similar to what I had linked is required. Do you know of a reverse face ribbon? If so that would solve most of my graphics card worries. I have yet to see one.

then just buy an apu, anyway there is no good low profile card , they are all low end ones. 2 slots is pretty much the norm and the minimum for length 250 mm.
the best option might be a kaveri with a low end gpu then , but it wont be cheaper and perf will be worst then a true gaming rig

Ribbon cables are flexible, just take the card and rotate 180 degrees with the cable still attached. It would then be bent into place.

here is a drawing to show you want I mean.

indeed this is an option if I can keep the other PCI slots clear on a microATX (I need a logysis remote on card and WiFi network card). I guess those could get ribbons too if required.

Not too much love for the low profile scene, the best card I can think of is the AFOX HD 7850

The best I could do a while back was a Sapphire Low Profile 7750 in my Dell Inspiron 660s

Any idea which is the best between the GTX 650 and HD 7750? I don't see a single review for the GTX 650 Low Profile.

I had a 7750 xfx core edition for awhile. It was alright. Did some research on it. For gaming it depended on the game if it would beat the 650. For bitcoin mining it could match a friends stock 680 sc in mhashes/sec (130 or so if I recall). Mine overclocked to 1000c ore, but the ram didn't oc well.

Either way performance is close.
