"Online Disinhibition Effect" In layman's terms: People are free to say whatever they want on the internet because they feel there are no consequences to their actions. Anonymity is one part of this effect.

Also, they aren't using an anonymous account to conform, they're using it to act out in ways they normally wouldn't.

Comment trolling is not someone "behav[ing] in the way they truly want to".
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=trolling
It has nothing to do with doing it to "be yourself".

And an act is not required to drop the guise of internet bad*ss/troll. People don't want to do it in real life because if they do, they get punched in the mouth by some guy who just had a *****ty day at work and they just called him a "(string of expletives/something about his wife-or-mom)". People don't want to behave like that in real life because they know the consequences. It has been drilled into them since they were young.

The DESIRE to be an outrageous prick doesn't exist in all of us, even to the point that in order for us to survive in EVERYDAY life, we have to put up an act in order to hide it.

That's what you're saying: A lot of young people (the troll generation) in the world are so wicked and perverse with their desire to behave caustically, that they need to put up an act in order to go about their lives at school/work/play, so why do they need to do it when they are on the internet?

Signed, I'm really getting sick of Google's antics.

First it was the real name thing, of which I provided a fake name only to minutes later get an email that pretty much said: lol, nope. You now have a Google+ account using your actual name, close it and your YT account will be closed. Strangely enough the fake name stuck on the YT account though people could easily click on my username and access my G+ to see my real name. How they got my real name is a mystery to me, it's attached to the email I signed up with, and I created my YT account so many years ago I can't remember if they ask for your name on registration. If they do though, I don't understand why the real name system asks for your input.

Secondly, I'm now blocked from commenting or rating comments completely. I suspect censorship(though it could just be a glitch.) Whenever I try to do one of the aforementioned things I get a popup saying "You have been logged out!" which is a bit silly considering I have to log-in to start typing a comment anyways. Still able to access my sub-box and watch videos whilst remaining logged in, but if I so much as type one letter into the comment box, I'm booted out. I do make a lot of political comments(mostly anti-pharmacudical/anti-censorship or just plain health related) but I keep it to appropriate videos and have never been blocked from a channel(ok... maybe one, but the guy was a conspiracy nut believing the UK government had a division employing 50 people paid to do nothing but harass him online. YT shut his account down the next month.)

Google has really changed over the last 4 years and it's gotten to be the old Microsoft... the Microsoft that basically said "it's our way or the highway". What's really interesting, Microsoft has adopted a lot of the old Google perspective over the last 4 years. I flushed google out of my life about 6 months ago and I don't regret it. Gmail is terrible anymore (went back to my trusty old hotmail ... now Outlook account) Dumped my unreliable and frankly terrible Android phone for the newest iPhone. I restored my Touchpad to WebOS and recently acquired a Microsoft Surface. I would love for a youtube competitor to start up... (now would be the best time start since the current user base is pretty pissed about these comment changes) It seems like google is forcing their proprietary software on people and I wasn't having any part of it.

In my opinion:

1) Disable links like before. Comments that have links masked like before are far less likely to be clicked so it discourages using them.
2) Have better detection for spam comments that are literally everywhere and they are practically the exact same thing, I have no idea how this keeps happening.
3) Make top comments ΝΟΤ the default sorting method
4) Having to use your real name cannot be accurately enforced whatever anyone does, unless they start asking for scanned ID's. So, it's pointless to demand something like that.
5) Make it a choice to use the stupid G+ site. It's something completely different. They are just trying to raise their user base with this mischievous tactic.

Vimeo does a pretty good job hosting quality videos. Especially in music and documentaries.
