Regarding the A holes of the internet, I feel it's about time that the internet was policed from everything from Facebook to Twitter. If you go through life being a disgusting letch in reality you'd be punished accordingly. The same should be true of internet, you should feel the wrath of the powers that be.
One good start would be to make all such sites have subscription fees, and a legitimate name and address details check before registration is even processed (this could be done purely from a credit/debit card check). Not only would the companies make more money, those social media sites would be more pleasant experience for everyone.
People always say that anonymity on the web is a good thing, but personally I feel that sites like Facebook and twitter should be exempt from this. Your portraying a public face for god sake, let it be a legitimate one.
