LAN network adapter on Biostar TZ77XE3 no longer working

Hello all,

The LAN network adapter on my motherboard (Biostar TZ77XE3) isn't recognized anymore as seen in the device manager.
When I try installing the drivers from the mobo disc or directly from Realtek's website, it says: "The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode enabled Please Plug the Cable" error near the end.
I don't know when exactly it stopped working because I was using a wifi card prior to now. I tried resetting the CMOS by removing the battery and unplugging the power cable for a few minutes; didn't work. I also booting with ubuntu live cd, it wasn't recognized there either. I know the NIC was working in the past because I used to share the internet connection with ethernet. Do you think the culprit is the mobo itself? Do you know how I can fix this? Someone told me to reset the RTC RAM or try the jumper method. Do you know how I can do this?

Thanks, your help is appreciated.

EDIT: oh I forgot to mention, the yellow/orange light always stays on (PC turned on or off); it's not blinking, it's just remains on.

Try checking in the computer's BIOS to make sure that the "Onboard LAN" feature is enabled.  Another (not good) possibility: NICs can get blown out rather easily by lightning surges coming via the network cable—although I hope that this isn't the problem in your case!

It is perfectly normal for the yellow light to remain on even when the computer is off if the machine is wake-on-LAN capable.  However, if you unplug the network cable, it should go out.
