Basically a 7970 is going to be near same level performance if you're happy with the 7850 consider that around $300. If you want bettere performance consider a R290 at $400

If you gave us a budget, it'd help us help you a lot faster thumb.gif
Anyway, if your budget is high and you want AMD, either get the 7970 and overclock that to 1200/1600+ or a R9 290. I wouldn't bother with the R9 290X as it's not much faster than the regular 290 but costs a lot more. If you choose to go Nvidia, the 770/780 would be the best bet.

well from the bechmark that was shown I really dont see upgrading to a single card as being much better.. I may just hafta hold onto what Ive got. Thanks guys!!!

Yeah you'd have to drop $600 on a 290x or more on a 780 ti to have any improvement. Just not worth it at this point. Wait til next gen and enjoy your crossfire.

Thats what I"m doing with my 7950 x2. My 3d11 score is faster than stock Titans

Download and run 3DMark, free edition http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5775-3dmark.html . Forget results for the first 2 benchmarks and look at Fire Strike, the best representation of what you can generally expect from modern and future games. Then compare your numbers to the following single card solutions.

Results for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780(1x) and AMD FX-8350:

Results for my Radeon R9 290 and Intel i5 3570K overclocked to 4.6GHz on air:

Edit:

I forgot to add, the R9 290 was still using BETA drivers. All the more impressive.

And R9 290 power limit settings +10%, +15% GPU, 17% RAM .
