Are watercooled 290's crashing/black screen?

Hi,

Thinking of picking up a 290 reference to put on water but am put off by all the reports of crashes etc. If members who have watercooled 290's could let me know how their gpu's are working would be great.

Is it pot luck whether u get hynix or elpida? Been reading through the 290 owners thread and saw it posted that some brands were one of the other but now it seems the sapphires etc which were meant to be Hynix are Elpida.

Am thinking of a stock Asus card as the bios seems like the only one which is unlocked @stock?

780ti is tempting but is quite a bit more expensive, I suppose I could be patient and wait for Maxwell..

cheers

well i guess nobody on water has issues, that's good as I ordered an Asus 290.

I think I found a major stumbling block, am on vista 64 and it seems latest drivers from Amd arent supported.

tempted to send the card back before have even opened it! just didnt think i'd have to upgrade my os as well...!!!mad.gif

I have a watercooled 290x and I dont experience any problems when running it at stock settings. A small overclock say 1130/1500 and I get blackscreens in both bf4 fullscreen and furmark running in windowed mode.

I tried increasing the voltage by 100mv but no luck. Still blackscreens. Of course i could run the card at stock settings but where is the fun in that?

Ah. Elpida memory modules here. Japanese garbage it seems.
