Upgrade GTX 460 SE to ATI or NVIDIA

Thread Starter
As the tittle says, I have a GTX 460 SE(1GB), with an i7-2600K ~ 4.8GHz. Nvidia 800 Maxwell series and ATI 9000 Hawai series are coming out. I've been reading a lot of stuff about them but I didn't get my mind right. Some people say: get AMD since this gens' consoles are gonna have ATI cards so games will be optimized for them, I've also read there has been trouble with nvidia drivers lately (I've been using my card for 3 years I think, and I've never had such problem).

So.. Hawaii or Maxwell? Which do you think it's gonna be best?

And yes, I know this is pure speculation, but even if they were already out, not all the games will be out, so it would also be speculation if I posted this when they came out.

Welcome to OCN smile.gif

If you are willing to wait a few months, my guess is that a future mid-range 20nm based GPU of either camp will outperform the high-end 28nm currently available and will consume way less power to boot.

As for now, a GTX780 for 499$US or an R9-290 for 399$US represent the best value in high-end performance.

Here's how to put your rig in your sig:
