Recommend power supply for 50-60 dollar range?

Hey guys,

I need a good psu! Anyone recommend one for 40-60 bucks? SLI compatibility would be cool for the future but not a must, would be to power my sig rig for now.

I'm in canada.

This is probably my favorite PSU in that price range for reliability and performance.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207013&Tpk=xfx%20550w

Its probably not enough for future SLI but its a very solid unit in your price range that often has sales! Iv seen it as low as 30 bucks with rebates.

Hope this helps. thumb.gif

If your seriously considering SLI (or an upgrade for that matter) You should spend an extra 20 bucks to get a 700w or better PSU.

This is truly a much better idea.. I think cheaping out on the PSU can often be a pain the future.

According to PSU Calc, you need about 375W for your current setup and about 550W if you add a second GTX 460.

I have a Rosewill Capstone 450 that is a fantastic PSU and it fits your budget at $59.99. You can spring for the 550W version of the same PSU for an extra $15 to cover your eventual SLI. That might be the best option because a quality 550W PSU can run just about any single GPU system out there, but it's a bit out of your budget.

Seasonic G and Cooler Master V550S are better PSU´s in the same price range

Voltage regulation is not great on the Capstone which is its only real flaw

That's most likely because the newer offerings are better, not because the Capstone is bad. It's two years old, after all, and when it was reviewed new, the voltage regulation was 'above average.' In any case, I don't think it's fair to say it's a 'flaw.'
