Pushing i7-2600K

Thread Starter
I have my i7-2600K running at 4.8GHz, I've recently read that you can push it to 5.7GHz.

Now my question is, has anyone tried this settings? Is it stable? Does it degrade/break, even with cool temps?

Any info would be helpful, and if it's a stable OC, maybe settings?

5.7ghz is only achievable using suicide voltage under extreme cooling. Even 5.0ghz chips at reasonable voltages are rare. Most folks agree that anything above 1.5v on sandy bridge will begin to degrade after time.

Link to the page that suggests that you can run at 5.7ghz?

That particular example is a golden of golden chip on a suicide run. That wouldnt be stable past the 15 seconds its takes to run that benchmark. Simply not achievable.

We can help you perhaps push your chip a bit farther, 4.9-5.1ghz. If you would post what settings you are currently running for 4.8. and what your temps are under load. We can go from there.

Well, I don't want to take it further, 5.1GHz is just 300MHz away from 4.8 so I wouldn't notice any change at all, anyway, thanks for the help, I gave you REP+. Settings? Voltage is around 1.3V I think ( been running this settings for a while and can't check since I'm not at home) and my load temps are between 45-50ºC. I've been running this settings for a couple of months so I don't wanna break it, I was wondering trying to push it to 5.7GHz since it's a significant change (900MHz), but I don't wanna break the settings I have now for 300MHz, thanks anyway smile.gif
