Sending the ol' case to the tomb

Thread Starter

I notice a lot of discussion about buying a new case. It's a very important subject. However one day you and your case of glory must part ways. What do you do then?

I have a few (heh) cases that are sitting around from previous builds, both successful and blundered; The question is: what do I do with them? Do I try and make a turtle tank out of them? Are they good to cannibalize for spare metal? Are they the new modern art?

I'd like a responsible way to dispose of them; recycle them somehow? I'd rather not just throw them in the dumpster...

Any ideas?

Should be able to find some people on Craigslist to take them off your hands. Honestly, the metal that's in cases is not really worth the trip to a scrap yard, In my opinion.

This is true. Craigslist, essentially, is the best option.

I like to keep a case around for a budget build every now and then for a friend. It's nice to be able to say "I can throw a case in myself for no shipping". smile.gif

Or get some junk cheap parts and make a home server. biggrin.gif

Yeah craigslist may be the only option. One of my cases has a bunch of holes in it from modifications, so it looks like the dump is its final resting place then... Oh well. I guess I can say I learned a lot from them!

One decent case is always nice to have if you evee want to do a scrap build. Then you have a motherboard tray / 5.25 and 3.5 " rack handy thumb.gif
But yea, more than 1: sell'em off. If you can't get a lot for it, you could perhaps donate to someone less fortunate who can't afford a cool case ! A small gesture goes a long way smile.gif
