CM Storm Spawn, CM Inferno,CM Storm Recon? I decided to up my budget and decided on either of these three but read they might have some nasty bugs?I don't use any pads though, so it needs to track well on my wooden desk that has really really tiny bumps(by design)

Tracking on Recon is pretty good, only cons I'm aware of are
- uneven weight distribution towards the back
- problem activating profile changes when there's less than three profiles on the mouse (needs replugging if not)
- polling slightly less fast when leds are in use (-15%)

Pretty solid mouse all in all, especially considering the price

i got the impression that the spawn has the best sensor of the three, but i never owned any of them, so its just hearsay. Seems like the spawn does kind of have a love it or hate it ergonomics as well.

It's just that people are talking about some tape, tracking issues, firmware updates about Spawn that I am skeptical to buy.

I never had a problem with my Spawn and it's still in great condition. I game at 800 DPI and find no tracking issues with the mouse for all the FPS games that I play. The tape fix mod is for those who want a lower lift off distance than what the mouse provides. Without the tape fix the lift off distance isn't high, around the height of 2.5 CDs in my case, and with the tape fix it's about 1 CD. The cable can be a bit thick and hard to flex but it's softened up over time.

About the wooden desk, I can use it on a light colored wooden desk and do no do the tape fix on it as it may screw up tracking.

I'm also using the Roccat Savu which is a great mouse as well and if it's available in your budget where you are that could be a consideration.

Here are my personal thoughts (I own all three)

Inferno - PTE Sensor with Z-Axis Bug (no problem for me, but often a problem for others), big, heavy, tons of buttons

Recon - very slippery coating, side buttons to light to push, to heavy, unbalanced weight

Storm - side button not easy to push because they are bordered, Mousebuttons (MB) 1+2 to short, MB 2 is shorter than MB 1, dpi buttons wobbles, housing is very nice

For FPS I would rank: Storm, Inferno, Recon
Other gaming:Inferno, Storm, Recon

Keep in mind that I have no problem with the PTE Sensor. I modded the Recon to fit my needs. But out of the box I really hate the mouse.
