Samsung 840 Pro is slow at times

My current SSD for my OS is the Samsung 840 Pro 256GB version. As of late I've been having some odd issues that I am unsure are related to the SSD or Windows 7. The issues are as follows:

When I click an object in Windows, sometimes it takes 5 or more seconds to load. It will just sit there frozen, not letting me click anything else until it applies the action. An example would be in Foobar2000 when I click a song to play. It just sits there without playing it for 5 or seconds. The same can be said about clicking a folder in windows explorer. It will just sit there 'frozen' essentially until it decides to load it. Another strange issue I've had is the time it takes to restart my computer. Sometimes it takes over 30 seconds just to reboot and get to the BIOS screen from Windows 7. Other times it's 5 seconds. And in both cases, there are no programs running. So there shouldn't be such a huge delay in reboot speed.

Below is a benchmark I just ran:

Long ago, when I tried adding a RAMDisk to my system since I have 16GB of memory, I noticed my SSD reboot times drastically decreased. Well I put up with this for quite some time, then decided to reformat my comptuer due to some video card flickering issues I had (Which oddly enough seemed to happen at the same time I put the RAMDisk on my computer).

Has anyone had any 'freezing' moments or very slow to load moments with this SSD and resolved the issues?

Can you open AS SSD, you don't have to run it just open it so we can get some info.

I have had no, issues with either on my sammy pro 256 gb versions bud.

I have something stupid for you to check. =)

Go into the BIOS and make sure your Floppy is set to "Not Installed" instead of the default 1.44 MB 3.5" for most motherboards. I have had more than a few systems that did exactly what you describe, and it turned out the system was in a IRQ wait state looking for a physical floppy drive that didn't exist.

Did you give the SSD at least 10% in OP? "overprovisioning" the more the better with this SSD.

Through Samsung Magician you can choose between different optimization settings; under Disk Drive (left pane menu), go to OS Optimization, click next to the gear icon and select Maximum Performance.

You can also activate the Over Provisioning feature to boost performance, it's under System Management.

Thanks for that, I'll give those a shot. I had never messed with them before to be honest. Didn't think I had to.
