Yep I did read

but even if the people didn't notice that its a different card, they shouldn't care anyways because of the warrenty and RMA. What I find weird is that it had actually halted the sales of 780ti...

do you own a galaxy 780ti & live in Taiwan/china? If not I would wait until we get some sort of official message from NV...

This is a reference card, doesn't that mean nvnidia bundles the components, ships them out, and the manufacturer puts it together, under nvidia specification?

I just read a thread claiming* that they used a 780 pcb, here is an image of a 780 pcb and there is 6 dots, as the similar to the burnt picture. Did galaxy get lazy?

Took a look at it, it's not the same PCB. The spacings are different even though the dot pattern is similar.

And now there is Central field, a component seller in HK, suspending the sale of 780Ti,
announced on Facebook:

They say currently it is observed only in China, and not in the US...

Wonder how much of a damper on the Ti sales this will bring.

Its not similar. Reason being this:

Notice the green ovals I painstakingly painted onto each picture :P? (shhh, haven't had a chance to install CS6)

That Galaxy PCB is most definitely not even a reference GTX 780 PCB. Reference GTX 780s use a full matte black pcb, with none of the traces showing. That particular PCB only shows up on cards such as the MSI GTX 780 Gaming (Twin Frozr), and I believe the Gigabyte WF3, and is more of a cheaper, aftermarket solution pcb that those vendors use. All Nvidia reference pcbs have a large hole (perforation) on the extension of the pcb that allows your GPU to be locked into the PCIe X16 slot securely.

Also, don't know if you've been keeping track, but CentralField was where this whole thing originated from. And no other vendor has had any problems except them.

So that person was probably trying to smear Galaxy & Nvidia

some claim that apparently the reason for the faulty cards is because they stuck a metallic sticker onto the back of the mosfets

If that is really the reason, then problem solved... Just rip off the sticker...

I'm not even sure what kind of 780 that is... Is that a lightning? The ref 780 PCB does not have the weird amd style gpu holster thingamajig, that picture also looks like the power section is different.

those stickers aren't normally metal... ALSO Ref PCB has squares on the back as to where the stickers are SUPPOSED to go. Referencing this from the titan I have in my hand as we speak.

Sigh, I wish my titans had that power section. drool.gif
