Persuasive Speech - Folding at Home

I want to use Folding at home in a persuasive speech. I need 3 sources of information. One would be the Folding site itself. What other route would be good for this? I have been searching for a few days but I am having trouble finding another angle to approach this topic of convincing others why they should fold.

Considering you need 3 sources of citation for your speech I am going to guess that this is for academics. If you can't get enough credible sources then I would recommend changing topics.

Not sure if this will even help as some of them are probably not considered scholarly sources:

The less information you have the more difficult it is to present supporting information and facts to persuade the audience to participate in distributed computing. The more supporting evidence you gather and present will make it likely that people will choose to participate. Personally I find this topic more informative than actually persuasive as there's not really a side to take on in the topic. "Persuasive speeches focus on issues of controversy, where more than one point of view exists."

The problem is there's no controversy in the subject. Here I'll give you an example, guns should not be banned. How many people do you think will argue against that statement? Do you see where I'm getting at now? If we ban guns it'll prevent people from accessing it, but at the same time leave people defenseless. If we participate in distributed computing we might help find a cure some day, if we don't participate in distributed computing nothing bad happens. This is the best info I could give you, I couldn't find my speech book from college as it's hidden somewhere in the garage.

Well, the speech is for college purposes as you indicated. It has to cover a non-profit organization of my choice. I don't deal with charity very much at all but I love computers. I thought of Folding pretty much right off hand.

Edit: I only need enough information for a 5-10 minute speech.

Thank you by the way!

I'd take the position that occurrence of cancer and neurodegenerative disease across the board is on the rise. The speech would persuade people to participate in Folding given we are all at risk. I'd use the papers published by the Pande group as evidence Folding produces tangible results versus say charities where only a small portion of donated funds actually make it to fund research.

Easy hook would be an emotional story about someone you know who has fought one of the diseases.

Sources would include the CDC website for pulling statistics and disease info, F@H website, a couple of the reach papers published, and maybe a story you find that corroborates the ineffectiveness of monetary charities.

Speech almost writes itself. Apologize for the lack of structure in the post- very tired, trying to get back to sleep.
