Battlefield 4 ..... time for an upgrade? - Page 3

I've been ranting and raving about the performance of my 760s lately, and I guess i'll continue it here tongue.gif.

My 2 GTX 760 2GB's currently are pumping out 60+ FPS on all Ultra (No MSAA mind you) over my whopping 5760x1080 resolution (Surround). when my 4GB 760s rock up in the mail I'll simply get the added bonus of MSAA etc. So if you're only playing at 1920x1080 I would honestly not even bother with a SLI 770 setup.

BF4 seems to be the primary reason for upgrade and you have no intention of playing on Surround/Eyefinity down the track.. I would be going for a nice 280X which comes in at a very very attractive price, already has non-reference coolers and will have your mantle support to boot.. not to mention should you wish for more grunt down the track (and assuming AMD gets their %!@% together) CrossFire is always there.

I've seen plenty of Single 770 setups playing BF4 on Ultra settings over 1080p so I don't even know why a 780Ti or SLI 770 setups are being discussed when realistically you just don't need to spend even that.

If you want to be future proof though.. that's another story, but again I personally would still go with the R280X if you have no huge-resolution-dreams.

EDIT: Just read the "Built with nVidia in mind, it will stay that way" post. IMO Pick up another second hand 580GTX then. Or go with a Single 770GTX. A Single 770GTX will blow it out of the water on 1080p and worst case you can SLI a second one in there down the track on the cheap.

All things aside, I would strongly suggest you install BF4 before doing any upgrade.

Check out the CPU Unparking threads/guide as well, will take you all of 30 seconds and will probably increase your FPS far beyond what a GPU upgrade would do with your setup.

If I was in your shoes I would

A) Install BF4
B) If not happy with FPS -> Unpark Cores
C) If still not happy -> Purchase Single GTX 770. Sell old GTX 580.
D) ???
E) Profit

That's fine, but considering he specifically wants to play BF4, and the game will be patched for mantle, ATI should be a priority. Now if we were talking cod ghosts which is partnered with NVidia that would be a different story.
