Should I upgrade to R9 280x or keep my two 6970 crossfire?

Hello OCN, I was thinking of buying the R9 280x. Is this upgrade worth it over my current setup which is two 6970s crossfired? I have a 1980x1080 120hz monitor.
I will be getting a korean high res overclockable monitor soon. Would the upgrade be needed if I do get one of these monitors?

CPU: 3570k @ OCed at 4.4Ghz

GPU: Two 6970s

Not IMO. You won't be getting any speed increase, just losing the crossfire.

I'd suggest getting the new card once you have upgraded your monitor, since if i assume right you want to move away from CFX solution. Now the 280x is a nice little guy for 1080p gaming but not 1440p and you would likely need to drop some most settings to medium to get acceptable frame rates. Essentially CFX 6970 are better than 20~15% from 7970/280x performance on games that scale well with CFX, otherwise, its worse. the 7970/280 would at most be a side grade from your current configuration. I'd only suggest first upgrading the monitor and then upgrade to either 780/290 as both are decent pixel pushers at even 1440p
