Damage Asetek 510LC at 12v with No Speed Control?

Thread Starter
I have an old CyberPower computer with one of those Asetek 510LC Liquid Cooling Systems in it and I am wondering if I can plug the pump in to a 12 volt plug that has no speed control so it runs full blast all the time?

Will that damage or burn out the pump faster?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'plug into a 12V plug.' If I'm not mistaken, the pump uses the +12V rail from your standard Molex connector.

Datasheet:
Code:
http://www.asetek.com/media/645/510lc_data_sheet.pdf

The 510LC (like many other computer water pumps) is rated at 12V, so I don't think it will burn out the pump any faster.

What will burn out the pump is if you are trying to cool a hot CPU and the radiator cannot cool the loop adequately and raises the pump temperature. I would say you should be more mindful of the water temperature (and by extension the CPU temperature.)

The pump is plugged into the CPU fan plug and I would like to plug the fans on my radiator into it instead because they are noisy at full speed and I would like to be able to temperature control them.

I only need them to run full speed when I am gaming and I wear headphones so I can't hear them anyway.
