Plz Help! Intel Xeon E5-2643 compatible with my Intel DX79SI?

Thread Starter
Hello. Please help!
Will my Intel DX79SI motherboard will be compatible with Intel Xeon E5-2643,
Or with Xeon E5-4617?
I know that official site does not have the CPU in compatible lists, but maybe there will help bios update or something like that?

P.S. I want it just for home built and some gaming.
and I already have the motherboard and have a chance to get one processor from just these 2.

Thanks in advance.

Hope I opened the topic wright place.

On the Intel website http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=dx79si
you can see all the CPU's the DX79SI supports.

As i saw there werent in that list i googled some and came into this:

Yes they will both work. I've tested Xeons on consumer boards extensively over the past 5 years and never had an issue of a Xeon not working on the consumer chipsets when the socket is the same. Intel, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, ASRock etc just don't want to be testing every Xeon out there on every board, it would take too long and is for a niche audience and if one works all the others should.

If you are planning an upgrade from an existing CPU in that board then I'm guessing you have an i7-3820 at least, and that is better than both for gaming due to it's clock speed. These aren't an upgrade from an i7 or Xeon E5-1600 series CPU. If you can get these free or cheap then buy them and sell them as they still go for a high price, which is like that because they are intended for data centre/enterprise server usage in multi-CPU systems.

The CPUs designed for single socket boards are nearly always better choices because of price and clock speeds.

This doesnt mean 100% sure they will work, i geuss you will have to find out yourself.
