lol technically you COULD just not in surround unless display manager allows the workaround on that from what I've been seeing people do, I'll have to check it out. I'm aiming more for the TV since it'd be bigger and since its my accessory easier to look at.

Now, a mobo + 4930K upgrade would run me 1020 USD (I live in Norway, stuff is expensive here), and that's with an ASUS P9x79 (not Pro). I'm currently a student, so this is a lot of money for me. But if it would give me a significant performance boost, I am willing to consider it.

Yeah, you're not kidding about things being expensive in Norway. I was there last year and what makes it worse is that only a few miles away across the border the same thing can cost many times less! Anyway, you seemed to have come to the correct conclusion that as you're mainly gaming then it makes no point in upgrading in your circumstance. Now, if you were doing video/rendering work then hell yes. As it is you just need to upgrade your GPU as and when the mood takes you or the the particular game or funds dictate. I'm waiting till the next version of Elite appears before changing my 670 as I'm not a hard core gamer like dpoverlord and LunaP wink.gif

If your not doing 1600p / 4k surround I do not feel you need a TITAN. It does help though for what I am doing. Going to 3 Titans.... Look at my benches in my Sig you can tell for yourself.

I'm sure benchmarks jump quite a bit, but practically speaking. I can see 4k surround demanding a lot of juice though, for sure.

God damn breathtaking if you ask me in most games thumb.gif

I don't think x80 or x70's would be able to maximize on that one. If it was 1080p I'm sure they would but boy does the b/w spike up as well as amount of processing when u jump up into the 1440/1600 range biggrin.gif that's where these giants really flex their muscle.

I have a 144hz 3D monitor, but most games don't even support more than 60hz, and I haven't bothered with 3D glasses yet. At some point, when I'm finished with my education, I'll definitely look at a real surround setup. At the moment I've just connected my TV and a secondary display for watching movies etc while gaming.

At any rate, you guys should definitely check out Barnacules Nerdgasm on YouTube; he has the most insane PC setup I've ever seen. Check out his latest tour video.

Yeah, many of us go to Sweden to purchase cigarettes, meat and such. Even with a long drive, it's worth it. Next version of Elite - Star Citizen? I'm looking forward to that one myself. I still have my 670 as well; waiting for the GTX 880 (or whatever it's going to be called) before I upgrade.

Most games don't include the 60 / 120 setting in it, if you get up to 60+ fps your monitor shows you the difference lol, even DOS games run insane for me LOL. I play @ 96hz though tbh.

Anything 1440p and up is pretty demanding. I'm currently debating sticking w/ triple 1440p surround or jumping to 2x 4k in surround.

No, but most games automatically run at your native frequency, if the engine allows it. I use a secondary monitor for uh, monitoring stuff like fps, cpu / gpu usage etc. I run mine at 120, for slightly better colors. I can't notice a difference between 120 / 144 fps anyway. HUGE difference from 60 - 120 though. I have yet to feel a need to jump up from 1080p, and since I bought a new monitor not long ago, I doubt I will for a long time. If I was playing on a 30" screen, I'd definitely consider it though.

Then we play very different games, probably. Seems like a lot of the PC exclusive games support it; but most of the ports I've played are capped at 60.

WoW is a proper PC game, with tons of customizability.

I don't play console ports that are FPS capped at 60 and use half of the FOV that they are supposed to for viewing a desktop screen from a few feet away ^.^

With that, i've yet to see or even hear of a game recently that couldn't run 120hz
