G.SKILL Ares or Ripjaws X?

Thread Starter
Hello,

I'm building a PC, and I've run across G.SKILL's Ares and Ripjaws memory sets.

It's been about a year since I've been involved with PC hardware, so I'm a little rusty. Which set would be the better buy?

The ARES is set at 2133 but has a timing of 10-12-12-31. On the other hand, the Ripjaws are at 1866 with a timing of 8-9-9-24.

Should I shoot for a higher clock and worse timing or vice versa?

The Ares memory is also set to be a Shell Shocker sometime today on Newegg.

Thanks for the input!

Go with the G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory. The CL timing on the Ares is pretty slow and the clock speed between the two isn't much.

I would go for the 2133C10 since the 1866C8 have a high chance of being single-sided, even if they are not - Samsung bin on that spec is usually bad.

The DDR3-2133 kit might be best since it has XMP Profile for easy set up in BIOS.

Cheers
