8350 OC or new Haswell i5? - Page 6

Very very sad the effect you went to put that post together, also just to point out.

"You also keep failing to realize we aren't discussing intel vs AMD ST performance but strictly PENTIUM ST performance, which is grossly overstated in your posts. Pentium/celeron=/= core i"

You say we are not discussing intel vs AMD but stricly Pentiums ST performance..... Wrong we are trying to help someone make a decision on getting a new i5 or staying with the 8350!!

I think he got a 4770k already, moot point. He got the best of both worlds (ST and MT performance).

I don't think this was really ever disputed. The whole point of me asking which to get was to look at what can it do vs. what I need to be done.

Yeah, I don't think it was ever debated that the Intel IPC is faster than AMD. Frankly, that argument is moot anyway as even AMD fanboys admit that the AMD IPC is lacking. Somehow this got derailed into AMD 8350 vs Intel Pentium, which is a preposterous comparison in my opinion. As with ALL CPU levels, there will be selling points and leaving points. The Pentium has the Intel IPC advantage, but in real-world situations that require more thread availability, the Pentium will lose. Likewise, something that is lightly threaded, the 8350 will not beat out any newer gen Intel simply due to raw single thread processing. When the 4 modules (8 cores) aren't being fed, then the price to performance ratio drops when compared to Intel offerings. Will anyone notice outside of benchmarks? Generally no. There are a few occasions where it will affect it greatly, but generally most people wouldn't notice the slight performance difference unless they did side-by-side analysis.

EDIT: Btw, OP, you will, without a doubt, be happy with the 4770k thumb.gif
