While you are correct this is a new article.

The post you linked stated that the settlement would have to be approved after a hearing to be held Sept 20, 2 months after the story was posted on OCN in July. This new thread includes the update that the settlement was approved after that hearing.

This is a joke. Anyone who has worked as tech support or laptop repairs knows how often these laptops come in due to Nvidia's worthless chip. Not only does it cause an inconvenience, but screws the customer multiple times. Nvidia took their sweet time to address this issue, and left the current owners to suffer-until the courts picked it up. Then the money is distributed by the courts after the lawyers, fess, and everything else are taken out, leaving little for the customers with issues. Then nobody knows about these class action lawsuits unless youre in the field. So telling a customer in the US to skip replacing the motherboard because the replacements can still have the same fault, and that they missed the very subtlety announced compensation period, sucks.

They need to force nvidia and other companies that lose a class action lawsuit to put up a notice on their website, and TV ads proclaiming the right to compensation. As of right now It is not on Nvidias Canadian website, or their support page.

Talk about a misleading title and very uninformative snippet...
