Getting a lot of issues with Windows 8.1... Should I go back to Windows 7?

Ever since I upgraded to 8.1, even after doing a fresh install, I seem to be having issues... Here are some that I remember:

- Whenever I play League of Legends, the mouse sensitivity settings seem to be reset when the game loads up. My mouse is a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. Also, I seem to be getting lots of really bad spikes while playing (500+ ms), which makes it pretty much unplayable.

- Ever since I bought this mouse, I have to deal with this issue.
This is supposed to only be a problem if I suspend/hibernate the computer. However with Windows 8.1 (and this didn't happen with 8), every once in a while when I boot up my computer the mouse has the issue reported on that thread. And turning off hybrid boot doesn't work at all, the issue will still happen.

- Search in the Start screen seems to be significantly slower than Windows 8 and 7, even with indexing turned on (which I usually leave off). So much so, that if I have a YouTube video playing in the background for example, you can hear it stutter as Windows tries to find the program/file you are searching for, and that tells me that Windows is under really heavy load when searching for files.

I think that's all for now, but what do you guys think? Did you have any of these issues? Did you find a fix?

I went back to Windows 7 because Windows 8.1 had compatibility issues with software. While I did like that it booted up faster on my crappy platter HDD's it was not worth the software compatibility problems that comes with it. You either have to hope the software developers update the software to be made compatible with Windows 8.1 or suffer with software problems until you can find an alternative solution. Metro UI should be disabled for non-tablet computers. Windows 8 is only about a year old and that's probably not enough time for it to be mainstream though the majority of laptops ship with Windows 8 now. I'd wait another 3-5 years if you want to avoid software issues.

Windows 7 is about 4 years old now and pretty much a lot of software is compatible with it and there's not a whole lot of issues so it's pretty stable. I'm sure by the time Windows 8 gets stable enough to migrate over to Windows 9 will be scheduled to be released right around the corner. I'd stick to Windows 7 if you want to avoid problems right now.

I'd also go back to 7, let them get the kinks out for a couple of years.

Or replace your mouse. As far as the slow search goes, if you're running a full platter based drive, make sure it's defragged *well* (UltraDefrag, built in one isn't so great). Also make sure BIOS is set to AHCI and not IDE mode.

Tried it, didn't work for LoL, and I doubt it worked for the "mouse not working" thing when I boot up sometimes.
Thanks anyway guys, I think I'm indeed going back to Windows 7 whenever I have time to do a fresh install. I didn't mind 8/8.1, but with instability issues, no way I'm keeping it.
