Buying first Korean 1440p monitor

Thread Starter
Looking to order one on the 1st of December. Which is generally the best one I could get for $300? I saw the X-star one for $280 and seemed like a nice deal, how are they?

I'm using a GTX 670 FTW and planning to use the 1440p as my main monitor and 1080p monitor as my secondary one, so all games are played on the 1440p.

Thanks.

I think they're all relatively similar. Be sure to get the matte one. Apparently the glossy one looks awful in anything except a really dark room. Just read the reviews from the sellers. Smart purchase though. I have a matte qnix and I love the hell out of it. It has some bleeding, but I'm not the kind of person that notices it too much.

I read a few months back when I was considering buying one that in reality there isn't much a difference between the pixel perfect and regular ones (they don't really check it) is this true?

The $280 x-star is from dream-seller.

I'm on the same boat, the page is right in front of my eyes right now, and I did some reading earlier today, that like QNIX and X-Star are the same and they are using PLS panel, and it can also do overclock,(depend on luck I guess).

I was also wondering, if the panel can overclock to 120 Hz, will that be the same as a 120Hz gaming monitor? or can it play 3D as well? (asking/thinking too much:roll eyes:)

But I haven't check if those Korean IPS monitors can do the same thing.

Also, I saw the "SquareTrade Warranty" on this item, anyone bought that?

I don't know. I went ahead and got a pixel perfect one because it was like $20 more. I think I paid $300.

Alright I'll get one of those pixel perfect ones then.

I did a quick google search and PLS is slightly superior to IPS right?

Pixel perfect is widely believed to be a marketing gimmick. Your chances of getting bad pixels are the same. The "pixel perfect" depending on how it is defined can mean 3 bad pixels. So basically anyone who read the giant thread on Korean monitors thinks it is not worth it.

PLS and IPS are just different and basically same quality. If you overclock, PLS will lose some of the color quality.
