I prefer to upgrade to a newer card because the next time you upgrade you'll sit there with 2 590's which will be a though sell
About the "running on max settings" everyone is doing ... well ... I call BS on most of them. Usually they don't have HBAO and MSAA on etc. The real performance sinks
(and of course resolution)
Personally, what I would try is disabling HBAO, lowering MSAA, no supersampling . See if you're satisfied with the FPS. If you are, you can wait for the next gen of GPUs, if not, then I suppose you could upgrade (but I would go for a 290 / 780 at the least, not the 770)
There's no shame in lowering graphical settings !
Also, on full (or nearly full) 64 player servers I noticed lag and stuttering in BF4 even though my FPS was pretty steady around 55-65. I think Dice still has some work on Betafield 4
(Don't even get me started on sound dropping, constant crashing and DAT INTERPOLATION !
