well, don't get the VX because it uses an "easy" method of attaching it, which is unsecure and has been known to fall off and break stuff. so get the regular BT.

Um.

I didn't need a fan. NB idled at 29C passive (Highest it got was 32C @ 1.6v) at 1.45v. (Actual 1.49v.)

You don't need to flash for 500FSB.

And vdimm mod only if you want more than 2.2v. (2.11v actual)

DS3 or a P5B-D with a VX
I don't know if you will be able to break 3.5Ghz without going to liquid cooling, but the p5b and scythe are probably your best bet for a 500fsb, my friend got his to 500fsb on a p5b and a noctua cooler.

i thought you said that the NB got hot and that you used a third party HSF for NB

and btw there are 3 ppl on HardForums who got 3719/3720 MHz on a P5B-D and e6400 with Scythe Infinity and Tuniq Tower

I see half of what I'd recommend but this is what I'd suggest:

1-GIGABYTE DS3 + Tuniq Tower 120

2-P5B Deluxe + Tuniq Tower 120.

Biostar has to have a Vmod for RAM to be able to scale to 1000mhz on a 1:1 ratio.
The P5B and P5B-E have Vdimm limitations a swell.

the DS3 doesnt have Vdimm limitations? can it also reach 500 FSB? the S3 is the same thing right?

The DS3 and S3 have a little bit of a difference in the lay-out. The DS3 has all around AL caps whereas the S3 only by the phase power stages, for that I think the DS3 is better.

Adds more stability to the system when overclocked.
