Question about 3570k 24/7 OC temps.

Thread Starter

I'm using a hyper 212 EVO to attempt to overclock my 3570k to 4.6GHz. Is 92C on prime95 okay for a 24/7 overclock if only being used for gaming. It only reaches these temperatures for a short time before going to the high 60s/70s. I'm using an arock z77 extreme4, so my voltage might be slightly under reported. This is currently ~40 minutes into prime 95 by the way. I know it will be stable for at least an hour and a half, as it passed that at a lower voltage. I received WHEA errors in various applications, though, so I had to up the voltage another notch. Thanks for any help! thumb.gif

That's a high temp. I have the same board, CPU, cooler and OC and in prime 95 it rarely hits above 80f. What kind of a case do you have this in ? May be your case fans aren't up to snuff, or the case needs better ventilation.

May also need to re-seat the cooler. Have you checked the per-core temps to see if some cores are running much hotter than others. That would indicate bad contact with the cooler.

My 24x7 OC runs at around 33 during regular desktop use, maybe up to 55 during an intense game.

My case is the AZZA 1000 Solano. The cable management isn't very good, as there isn't really any room on the other side to put the unused cables. Also, I haven't dusted my front fans in a long time, so that could be a potential issue. I'm hoping my cooler is properly seated, as putting on the hyper 212 evo is an absolute nightmare. Finally, my computer is right next to a wall, so I don't know how that my effect the temperatures.

How does it idle? Is the bottom of the Heatsink/Evo pretty flat? Might need to be lapped..
