In BF4, the water is living and really changes the battle (Parcel Storm or Flood Zone). The smoke is also improved; now smoke coming from a blown vehicle casts a shadow from the plumes. By the same token, smoke is overdone because massive explosions that happen right in front of you can cause the framerate to tank unless you have a stupidly powerful video card.
The textures in BF4 are far superior. Walk on any of the beaches or in buildings, and it is very apparent on higher settings.
In terms of gameplay, I'm still out.
BC2's gun tactics felt heavy and raw. I really liked it.
BF3's gun tactics felt precise and balanced. I also really liked it.
BF4's gun tactics feel more... toyish? The guns feel light, almost arcadeish... not so sure about that.
Graphics wise, BF4 is a step forward. In terms of gunplay, I think BF4 may be a step backwards. Still not sure though.
