laptop recommendation please

Thread Starter
ok, i need a laptop

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
What is your maximum budget?
approx 900 CAD, but lower is better

What country are you in?
Canada smile.gif

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Carrying around, typing, little bit of gaming,

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
doesn't really matter

What screen size do you require?
12.5"-14" but 15.6 without numberpad is okay,

What screen resolution do you require?
anything above 1366*768

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
i guess used is okay

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
5-6+ hours

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
dunno yet

What operating system do you need? (if any)
windows 7/8

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
backlit keyboard and aluminium, don't want pink, orange, red etc, thin?

How much hard drive space do you need?
will put corsair force 3 in it, so doesn't really matter

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
not really

Is there anything else we need to know?
I hate numberpad one the side of the keyboard, and i think optical drive is useless

My litte history of my previous laptops,
Fujitsu P5020, still working
dell latitude d525, vrm burnt
hp dm1, too slow, gave it to mom
alienware m11x, was going down the stairs, fell and broke hinge and sold it for $400
hp dv6, constant bluescreen, returened to bestbuy next day
acer timelinex 3830tg extreme coil whine and severe gpu/cpu throttling
current : samsung series 3 15.6, laptop bezel making clicky noise and left bottom corner sagging

i sort of suck at maintaining laptop, so i want something that is designed to last (eventhough it will not last that long if used by me)

Sounds like a Lenovo Y410 is right up your alley.
