Day 3 with my PS4, already beaten Knack and 1/3 the way through killzone. So far my PS4 hasn't melted or struggled to boot or anything. I am hoping I got lucky enough to get one of the good ones.

As much as I hate Microsoft, I hope there are less issues with their launch. It hurts me to see people having issues like these when they spend their hard earned money. Hopefully mine keeps running strong because I am really enjoying the controller and the apps.

I have four buddies who picked the PS4 on launch night. Two out of the four have had there units fail unfortunately. Both called sony and had a RMA made and are shipping the units out tomorrow. That must suck to have there new shiny units fail frown.gif

I had this issue when I first turned on my PS4 on Friday. Started freaking out and then began troubleshooting on my own without calling Sony or reading any threads. Mine was a very simple fix. My older TV only has 2 HDMI inputs so I bought a cheap little HDMI switcher to run the PS3 and PS4 through. I disconnected the HDMI from the PS4 to the switcher and ran it directly to the TV. Fixed the issue. After looking at the HDMI switcher, I realized it only passed 2.5gbps of info. Simply not enough for the power of the PS4. I went to Radio Shack and bought a powered HDMI switch that passes up to 8gbps of info and that fixed the issues completely. Zero issues since (other than the standard "couldn't get on the network Friday night" issue.)

Hope this helping you out of troubleshoot BLOD.

Oh the MS fan

sorry my friend, the failure rate of .4% is actually 4k consoles

Of course the bad luck owners are going to be mad and Sony needs to replace their consoles

but the Xbox fans, even trying so hard, will not make this as big as they want thumb.gif

and of course, the Sony fans will come and damage control, thinking only .4% of the consoles are failing. Because if that were the case, you wouldn't be waiting hours on the phone just to get a replacement unit a month and a half after you received it.......case you didn't know, that's around Christmas, if not after. thumb.gif

Foxconn had admitted to the problem in October and released a statement: “Immediate actions have been taken to bring that campus into full compliance with our code and policies,” the company said. This includes “reinforcing the policies of no overtime and no night shifts for student interns, even though such work is voluntary, and reminding all interns of their rights to terminate their participation in the program at any time.”
Quote:
The story took a twist on August 28th with a post on the IGN boards, allegedly from one of the students: “Since Foxconn are not treating us well, we will not treat ps4 console well.

I played with mine to different games (ASC, COD:Ghost, DC Universe Online and Warframe) without any issues so far. One of my friend had the "Pulsing Blue Line of Death" right after trying to update to 1.50. He had to plug out the power cable from the wall and plug it back to get his PS4 to boot correctly. He also couldn't play to COD at all (some random error code), seems like creating a new user on the PS4 fixed the problem.

The problem is so far there is no estimate besides Sony and their 0.4% This is only accounting 1 region for less then a week.
Who knows how much this will spiral when other regions get it and times goes on. Red ring of death scale was not found in a week either.
It's not that only, just watched a video of Totalbiscuit where he said his was broken as well alhough there the issue was the disc drive.
