G-Sync is great and all but i dont think it does anything different compare to V-Sync when you are over refresh rate of the Monitor.
So yeah according to NVIDIA, If your frame rate is absolutely locked at your refresh rate, at all times
, then that would be very similar experience to the smoothness provided by G-Sync.
The thing is that apparently that smoothness is sustained at all times with G-Sync independently
of your frame rate, so you could dip to as low as 30 IIRC and still have a smooth, tear free, stutter free, input lag free gaming experience.
I have no doubts that G-Sync will be a game changer, it's what we've all been waiting for.
Too bad I just got this monitor from a trip I made to Paris, France lol, if not I would be all over a G-Sync monitor, on the other hand, I wouldn't have the opportunity to try Mantle...
Mantle could ease the need for G-Sync at some level, Johan Andersson, has repeated many times that one of the goals with Mantle is to bring that "Robust stable" performance that people get on the Consoles today, so if Mantle is able to reduce the gap between Min FPS and Max FPS, and provide a stable high frame rate, then G-Sync would not be that important on Mantle enabled games.
